Discuss here your thoughts on Phantom of the Opera once you have watched it. Did you (not) enjoy it? Anything that struck you or maybe someone else could help if you have a question? We're not really looking for in depth discussions... just tell us what you think of it!

For those who have watched the film, please choose a star rating based on how much you liked it.

If you do have something to post that may ruin the plot for others, please remember to use the spoiler function (Details: http://risibookclub.myfreeforum.org/ftopic12.php )

I love this movie! I think the casting was wonderful and the sets were spectacular. I saw this at the cinema and it was great on the big screen. I have watched it loads of times since then as the score is really catchy and the Phantom well...he's just scrummy!

OMG OMG OMG !!!!!
The Phantom of the Opera is the movie of the month!!

LOL @ me

This is one of my absolute favorite movies of them all. I liked the book too, of course, but the movie is simply spectacular + very well sung too. Not to mention I've become a Gerard Butler fan ever since *blush*.

Just imagine, I've been to the cinema twice to see it, that's how much I liked it And own two copies of the DVD too *blush again*

PS Just in case there are other Phantom of the Opera fans around here, I ABSOLUTELY recommend you to read the book Phantom by Susan Kay - it's amazingly well written, telling the story of Erik/the Phantom from birth to death. I read it in two nights because I couldn't put it down (and I had to go to work during the day)  *yeah, yeah, blush again*

It's not just me who is crazy about this then!!   Although I only own one copy of the film! Isn't Emmy Rosum just wonderful as Christine?!

I'll have a look a the book you mentioned Kay ~ it sounds just up my street! Hopefully I'll still be able to image Mr Butler in the role

Thanks

I watched the 1983 version with Jane Seymour and Michael York today.

I really enjoyed it - what a great story! I too have seem it on stage (many years ago now) and loved that too.

I'll have to get the 2004 version out now to watch!
