|
|
So our very first readalong will be Wild Swans by Jung Chang. Hopefully this will be the first of many BB readalongs!!
The edition I will be using for our weekly sections is the 1993 paperback edition (seen in the picture on the poll thread). I think the 2004 paperback edition (same cover) is the same but I'm not sure about the 2007 edition as it has a different cover. If anyone is reading from the later copy please let me know so I can try to get a copy from the library to make sure we're all reading the same thing each week.
Look out for a post with the weekly breakdown of the book in the next day or so. The readalong will officially start on Tues 22nd - that means we will be reading from the 22nd with our first discussion starting on Tues 29th. I'll post a separate thread for each section each week, hopefully with some discussion guide if one is available.
Any questions please PM me

Excellent! I missed the voting but I'd read a fair few of the others already. This is on my tbr and I'm not sure when I'd have got round to it, so this is great for me.
My copy's got the same cover as the one in the picture. _________________ Kill the tbr - currently 124

I'm just a little bit frightened by this! I'm going to try and get a copy and hope I can keep up - I'll admit that it may go over my head but I'm going to give it a go.
Thanks for doing all this Nic x _________________ Currently reading: The Tent The Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy and Granny The Pag by Nina Bawden

Thanx for sorting that out Nic. I think I forgot to vote I have a copy of Wild Swans, but it is packed away so will have to hunt through a few boxes to get it. Or might just go to the library! _________________ Currently reading: The Human Stain by Philip Roth

I love this book! I read it many years ago when I was a teenager and would love to re-read it. My copy is still at my house in Canterbury but I can pick it up in a couple of weeks so I may be a bit behind for the first discussion. It's a beautifully told story ~ I think you'll really like it Anne _________________ Reading: The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho

Great choice, I've missed a lot of the run up to this but if I can find my copy (not sure if I swapped it on RiSi or not..) I'd love to join in. Anne, it is a great book and an easy enough read. _________________ Currently reading - The Italian Boy - Murder and Grave Robbery in 1830s London - Sarah Wise |

I keep seeing it in charity shops so I'm sure you'll all find it easily enough. Anne, for the last few months there's been a copy in the Jews Court bookshop in Lincoln, I don't know if it's still there though, I haven't been in a couple of months. _________________ Kill the tbr - currently 124

Thanks for organising this Nic. I've had this one on my tbr for years and as some others have said, I don't think I'd have gotten around to reading it any time soon. So this is great. I have the 1993 edition, it's quite yellowed and I'm hoping it holds together!
I'm going to be a little behind with the beginning of this readalong as I'm away from Sat for 2 weeks. (whispering this as don't like to announce that I'm going away... just call me paranoid...). I promise to catch up and join in as soon as I'm back. _________________ Currently Reading:

I have read this but won't be re-reading as I have just too many others that need my time! I will however, be reading your discussions as you go along. Good luck and enjoy!
And Anne, I agree, you shouldn't find it too hard, it's not a difficult book IMO |

Welcome Sarah - I hope you can get hold of a copy. I'm not reading this as fast as the others - I tend to pick it up now and again. _________________ Currently reading: The Tent The Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy and Granny The Pag by Nina Bawden
