So far I have read-
The Five Love Languages- Mark somebody
This was loaned me by a friend who thought it would help me and hubby realise what each otehr needs. It does make a lot of sense and although I normally poopoo self help books I am glad I gave this one a go.
Postcards from the Boys- Ringo Starr
A collection of postcards sent to Ringo from the other Beatles with a bit of commentary from Ringo. It was a library book that just took my fancy and not very much reading, so I have flicked thrugh it whilst poorly. I enjoyed it actually, it has made me desperate fr a holiday though!
When the wind blows- Raymond Briggs
I read this today as it had been recommended to me, and it was very touching. I could actually see me and David being a bit like that if there was ever a national state of emergency-slightly naive, still bickering but thinking we know it all. It was a bit different for me as I don't normally read garphic novels, but it has inspired me to read Ethel and Ernest too.
Ethel and Ernest-Raymond Briggs
Wow. What can I say except I loved this biography of Raymond Briggs parents and if you haven't read it I really recmmend you do. I want a copy of this to keep.
Sarah's Key- Tatiana de Rosnay
Completed this last night and enjoyed the concept of the story. I did find it dragged slightly towards the end, which was a real shame as the start of the book was reasonably quick paced without seeming rushed. I am normally rather 'safe' in my book choices and avoid things which will be upsetting, but after many recmmendations I decided to try this and I am glad I did.
Love's Work- Gillian Rose
An autobiography which doesn't read like an autobiography, if that makes sense! I'm not quite sure what I made of it to be honest, I decided to read it after it piqued my interest when flicking through teh 1001 books, and although it challenged my usual reading material, I wouldn't rave about it. I felt it spoke a lot without getting a point across sufficiently.
Frost in May-Antonia White
I had wanted to read this as it is the first book that was made into a VMC. It also coincided with my first visit to a catholic church and as it was set in a convent school that seemed quite coincidental. I really enjoyed this book, despite finding Nanda hard to relate to. I thought the first half of teh book flew by, whereas the second half was still good but not as compelling.
Toddler Taming-Christopher Green
Some good ideas, but no miracle solutions unfortunately!!!!

when the wind blows is soo sad- you should try and watch the film version kate! It made me well up- sarahs key is good too, really enjoyed that last year when i read it, i think treez sugested it on here and it piqued my interest. I'm still working my way through gone with the wind......
others i have read include kathy reichs bones to ashes and michael marshalls bad things, both of which were ok thrillers but finding it very hard to get really enthusiastic at mo about anything i am reading- hoping thats just a phase! _________________ Read my Blog @ http://sparkymarky1973.blogspot.com/ |

I've read this too and really enjoyed it!
Debbie - I have the DVD which is also very good. If you want to loan it, just pm me your address.
I finished Somewhere Towards End ~ Diana Athill, which was slow to start for me, but really enjoyed it towards the end (funnily enough). A great novel by the 89 year old telling tales of her sex life, affairs, lack of children and of course the end of her life approaching. 3.5/5. _________________ handmade by Laura Croxson
