I have! (Though it was a few weeks ago now.)

Spoiler:

I loved it. I think the best bit of it for me is Jeremy Irons voiceover, the sound of his voice is quite unique and very soothing. The pace of it seems right too, slow and reminiscing.

It does look quite dated these days but since it's set in the past that seems quite fitting.

The very beginning seems a bit disjointed, which didn't come over in the book that way for me but perhaps that's because I knew what was coming ie going back to his student days. I think the casting is great and I love the shots of the house - beautiful.

Must watch episode 2!

Spoiler:

I agree with you Sarah about the beginning being disjointed. My heart fell when it appeared we weren't going to see how Charles met Sebastian, but a few moments later we did and I felt relieved!

Is each episode 1 hour long? Episode one seemed to go on forever and I'm not sure if it merged into episode two! Anthony Blanche was introduced - goodness what a character!! Found his characterisation - the overemphasised accent, rolling eyes, hair - really scary and irritating, but also good if that makes sense!!

What do you make to Sebastian? Is he how you imagined him in the book? He certainly looks the part, Anthony Andrews. Will make my mind up about that when I watch a couple more episodes. Can't wait to see how his character changes over time and how it is handled.

Really enjoying this so far. I'll treat myself to another episode tonight!

I didn't actually check the length of the 1st episode Glynis but I too thought it was longer, sounds like they started with a feature length episode.

And Sebastian was how I imagine but I was around when it was first on TV and though I never watched it (was probably past my bedtime!) I did know how Sebastian and Charles looked from trailers at the time.

I double checked and I had watched episodes one and two without a break. Episode two starts with Charles receiving the telegram from Sebastian re his injured foot, and I definitely watched that so will comment soon.
