This book is written in the form of letters to Dawns family, friends, & even celebrities like Madonna!
The title Dear Fatty, refers to Jennifer Saunders who Dawn calls 'Fatty'.
Most of the book is tender recollections of her life so far, she deals delicately with the bad parts, the suicide of her father & her husband (Lenny Henry) having an affair. Being of a similar age I found it quite easy to visualise her life, although the book is not that descriptive. Her time at school sounded much like my own, and the mad zany world of college etc. Sometimes I found it hard to identify with her when she complains about the attention that comes from being so famous. It’s easy to think “well lucky you, you earn a good living from it. Smile at the press and be glad of it”. But after a while you realise how awkward it must be to do simple things like shop for baby clothes (they adopted a baby) or even go on holiday.
Overall I’d give this book 7.5 /10
Lot’s of photographs and quite an easy read, I’m glad I took the time to read this one.

I received this book for Christmas and hoping to get to it soon. Sounds like an interesting but fairly easy going read. _________________ Currently Reading:

| I have been thinking about getting this for a while but was unsure but it sounds really good. I may just be tempted. |

I don't normally read autobiographies but I like Dawn French and I quite enjoyed this one. It was interesting, sometimes very funny and sometimes quite sad as well. I'd give it the same as zanthewitch... 7.5/10 |

I used to read a lot of autobiographies, I've not read one for ages - this does sound very good _________________ Currently reading: The Tent The Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy and Granny The Pag by Nina Bawden
