Hi Everyone,
My name is Chris, and I'm from Notts. I'm sure like many of you here, I am an absolute book junky!! I buy on average about 4 books a week, much to the annoyance of my better half.
I like to read a variety of books and purposely try to mix up style and genre etc as much as possible. Up until a couple of years ago, all my reading consisted of Dean Koontz / Stephen King style novels, and although I still enjoy the odd one I tried to broaden my horizons, and I'm very pleased I did.
It would be hard to put my finger on a favourite author because I enjoy so many, but if pressed I would have to say P. G. Wodehouse. I would urge anyone not to have read a Jeeves and Wooster book to do so at once!! I also like graphic novels. I'm reasonably new to them, but am enjoying them very much. I also enjoy the odd autobiography or non-fiction book too.
Anyway, I look forward to some interesting discussions with you all.
Here are the books I have read so far this year (in order).....
Captain Corelli's Mandolin - Louis de Bernieres
An Utterly Impartial History of Britain - John O'Farrell
Right Ho Jeeves - P G Wodehouse
Catch Me If You Can - Frank Abagnale
Something Fresh - P G Wodehouse
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
Agent Zigzag - Ben MacIntyre
American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis
Breakfast of Champions - Kurt Vonnegut
Currently reading The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
Chris.
P.S. To pre-empt any questions about the slighty creepy avatar - I have a blog, all is explained on there!!!

Welcome Chris - just half an hour up the road from me!
Apart from The Kite Runner, I've not read any of your books so far this year, but am always open to good, lively book debate.
Enjoy BB! _________________ Currently reading: The Tent The Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy and Granny The Pag by Nina Bawden

Welcome to BB Chris! I was like you and stuck pretty much to that genre, but since joining the forum have read a wide range of books. Lisa x _________________ Currently Reading - Want to Play? By P.J Tracy (again)

Welcome to BB, Chris. Out of the ones I've read off your 2008 list so far...my favourite would be The Kite Runner. I read American Psycho many, many years ago when it was first published and whilst I liked it at the time, I don't think I could stomach it now!! I enjoyed CC Mandolin but was a bit disappointed in the Historian - as I have mentioned countless times on various forums, it could have done with some judicious pruning...
Looking forward to hearing what else you read this year. _________________ Currently reading - The Italian Boy - Murder and Grave Robbery in 1830s London - Sarah Wise |

I couldn't agree more about The Historian! As I have said in the "Currently Reading" forum, I am finding it a bit of a chore, but I'm going to persevere!

Well thank you very much (same to you Glynis) - shucks!
The username doesn't actually have anything to do with the blog! A quick look on Wikipedia will solve the mystery of the username, and give a clue to one of my fave authors.
Check the blog anyway though! lol _________________ 2008 '1001 Challenge' Books: 9 |

Due to popular demand (ahem!), and for one day only (in order to maintain my air of general mysterious anonymity here I am sans mask!

As I say, I'll only leave it up for today, so no need to inundate me with requests to immediately put the mask back on _________________ 2008 '1001 Challenge' Books: 9
