I went to see Inkheart last night and I was so excited to be going and dragged two of my mates with me...
...Unfortunately it was seriously disappointing. It had great potential and some brilliant special effects but it was really slow in parts. I wouldnt say I hated it but my two mates definitely did!

that's a shame Sarah - I gave up on the book, fantasy is just not my thing. _________________ Currently reading: The Tent The Bucket and Me by Emma Kennedy and Granny The Pag by Nina Bawden

Oh no!! But perhaps it's better I wait for the dvd instead as I'd still like to see it but doubt that Luke would be that enthralled by it in the cinema. The trailer seems like a total mish mash of all 3 books, such a shame if they've messed up what had so much potential...must now see what other children's flicks are out over the festive season. Bry took L and E to Madagascar 2 to occupy them on Saturday but The Tale of Desperaux might be worth investigating, well for kids anyway.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sarah. _________________ Currently reading - The Italian Boy - Murder and Grave Robbery in 1830s London - Sarah Wise |

| Went to see Inkheart with my husband and two boys (13 and 17) this morning. We all enjoyed it. I think my husband and eldest son enjoyed it most - they have not read the book. My youngest and I read the book, but it must be about 4 years ago now. Perhaps if we had recently read the book we would have found it more of a disappointment - the necessary changes they have to make for a film sometimes would have been more apparent. I think I spoiled it for myself a bit by trying too hard to remember the book and compare it, I should have just sat back and enjoyed it. The ending was a bit too neatly and sweetly wrapped up than I remember from the book and the opening sequences were jiggled around a bit too. I thought overall the film was true to the concept of the book (based on my memory of it!). I don't think they could have been totally true to the book, it would have been too long winded for the screen. We all thought it was a good family film. I particularly liked Helen Mirren, she played a good Eleanor for me. |

Hoping to see this with my 8 yr old after Christmas. I think we'll both enjoy it.
