Discuss here your thoughts on the film once you have watched it. Did you (not) enjoy it? Anything that struck you or maybe someone else could help if you have a question? We're not really looking for in depth discussions... just tell us what you think of it!
For those who have watched the film, please choose a star rating based on how much you liked it.
If you do have something to post that may ruin the plot for others, please remember to use the spoiler function (Details: http://risibookclub.myfreeforum.org/ftopic12.php )

I nominated this one and went and saw it on 27th December. I really enjoyed it. I have loved all of Baz Lurhman's films and this one didn't dissapoint at nearly 3 hours in length! _________________ handmade by Laura Croxson |

| I was really keen to see this when it was first announced but as time has gone on and I have seen more about it I have gone to the other extreme and have gone out of my way to avoid it over the holidays. It looks like one of those old fashioned epics such as Gone with the Wind or Out of Africa (a bit of a Barbara Taylor Bradford on film) which I suppose just doesn't appeal. As you have seen it and enjoyed it Laura is it that sort of film or does it have something else to offer? As a family we love films, but I am thinking dvd on a rainy Sunday when I have a pile of ironing to do rather than a precious cinema ticket? I am open to someone changing my mind if it is more than that. |

Karen - I really enjoyed it and would not consider it to be anything like Our of Africa or Gone with the Wind (long time since I have seen these). I actually thought it had a bit of everything - love, romance, war, history, great actors, costumes and a serious storyline about the aboriginal people.
But being from Australia, I enjoyed it because it reminds me of home, the landscape, our history and Hugh Jackman of course!
