Discuss here your thoughts on the book once you have read it. Did you (not) enjoy it? Anything that struck you or maybe someone else could help if you have a question? We're not really looking for in depth discussions... just tell us what you think of it!

For those who have read the book, please choose a star rating based on how much you liked it.

If you do have something to post that may ruin the plot for others, please remember to use the spoiler function (Details: http://risibookclub.myfreeforum.org/ftopic12.php)

Oh dear!  I tried to read this one last month and couldnt get past the first chapter.  I am always loathe to dismiss a book as rubbish - I admire any author who can write a book as I certainly couldnt.
But this was so bad - good luck everyone!

I was actually dreading starting this after reading Anne's opinion but I thought I'd better plough on with it as it was a book that I had nominated, and I'm glad I did.
It was definately creepy and I can see it being quite a good film if it was ever made into one. In general I thought it was quite an easy read although I think I might need to go back and re read the last few chapters again just to make sure I got the ending right in my own head.
My only real negative about the book was the sexual references, sometimes I feel there was too much and it wasn't needed. Overall I've given it 4 stars.
I'm looking forward to reading what everyone else thinks....maybe I'll be the only one that likes it! lol x

Well Sarah (Smiler) has a copy now as she very kindly swapped her copy of Rasero (never heard of it!) for my Birthing House without knowing what she was getting - mine was wrapped!

Bless her, I wonder if she'll read it now. I feel so awful for nominating it now, just been on Risi and had a nose and everyone who's read it seems to hate it

I know what you mean - I started it last night even though I have a couple of books on the go, but I want to know why everyone thinks it bad!

Well I've just borrowed a copy of this and I'm struggling with it already ..will give it a few more pages , usually 100 is my limit before I give up....only 60 more to go then ...

edited to say ..well I read it and thought it was dire. It was badly written and uninteresting.

Well I've started it and I have to say the writing is pretty appalling but I'm going to persevere and see how the stroy line goes...

Well I've nearly finished this and it has been easier to get through than I thought it would be. Its really poor writing and there are sexual references on every other page which are really unnecessary and the storyline is inconsisent but I've just found all of this quite laughable and have just viewed it as a trashy read. I want to read a real book next!

You're quite right Sarh, a trashy read is exactly how I'd describe it. that's what I needed at the time I read it, that's probably why I enjoyed it as much as I did lol x

I am about 100 pages in, and I don't hate it as much as I expected to after everyones comments.  All the sex stuff is a bit much for me (if I want that I will read Jilly Cooper, rather than warped, twisted stuff like this!) but I think I will continue with it.
