Last night I watched My Summer of Love, based on the Helen Cross novel.
I read the book about 5 yrs ago ? It's the story of Mona, who lives above a pub and her summer spent with posh Tamsin. This unlikely pair become intensely close friends - the film genre was 'Gay/ lesbian'
I'd recommend the book, but my OH couldn't stand the film- even tho it has Paddy Considine in who he likes.
I've also got her other one, The Secrets She Keeps on Mount TBR.

| I like the sound of this one and I think I will add it to my rental list. Have not read it either, but I might give the film a try first. |

| Not heard of this, but will always read a book before seeing a film otherwise I get disappointed! |

I used to think this too, but some films I have watched and enjoyed without realising they were also books, stumbled across the book and then enjoyed that in its own right too. Usually if I have read the book before a film version - especially if the time scale is close - I find the film disappoints in comparison, but the other way round is better. That's just me though, I think most would follow your thinking rather than mine! |

I watched the flim first, then read the book. Enjoyed both. Really liked the dark feel to the stories and thought the two lead characters (in the film) were excellent.
Emily Blunt has obviously gone on to do bigger stuff off the back of this - 'the devil wears prada' and 'queen victoria'. She's amazing (and beautiful!)
