Hi, just joined and trying to figure out my way around.  I just finished reading Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman yesterday (good) and I see one of your September choices is also by her, Seventh Heaven, which I'll try to pick up quickly and read it.  I start another book yesterday, Love in the time of Cholera, so I'll need to finish that one first.  Both these books, well I haven't got very far on the second on yet, look at the overpower feeling of love and how it can cause us to change the way we behave and believe.

If you have any advice for me as far as how this forum works, fire away.

Hi Shacardi and welcome to BB!

You'll see each month one of the mods will ask us all to message them with nominations for a book to read the following month. These then get collated and go to a poll. We vote for two books to read each month. You'll see that we are currently voting for which two books are going to be our October reads.

Other than that the rest of the forum is mostly chatting about authors / books etc.

Hope you like it here.

Hello and welcome to Babbling Books

All the book choices past and present are together in one section of the forum - you can add your comments at any time.

I read 'Here On Earth' a couple of months ago and loved it.  However, I didnt enjoy 'Seventh Heaven' at all - she has some very different styles in her books.

Enjoy Babbling Books - just shout if you need a hand

Here on Earth was interested and sad also.  It shows the destructive powers of certain types of love, but also the restorative as well.  I am interested to read Seventh Heaven to see if I have the same opinion as you.
How do I find the list of books proposed for next month?  I think I heard that members are voting already?

Welcome to Babbling Books!

You can find the October votes in the Current Book Choices section (I think!) or view posts since last visit on the front page after logging in and they are normally being discussed!

Welcome to BB Shacardi! If you need any help then just shout, also you can add to book and/or film discussion threads at anytime, so don't feel that you've got to rush to get through them. Lisa x

Thanks for the welcome.  I found the October book choices and cast my vote.  I'll spend some time reading through previous threads of books I have read to get a feel for the forum and to help me find my way around.
