Shall we keep the monthly film club going?
Would appreciate your thoughts. We receive few suggestions, if any, so we could either scrap it (make the forum a sub-forum so it's still accessible) or I (or any member if you so wish) could choose a film-of-the-month each month.
I'm also happy to loan my dvds if any of you are having probs getting copies.
Let us know what you think via the poll or by posting below.
Thank you
I'll keep the poll open for a few weeks.

I have a list on lovefilm of DVD's which I get out every now and again, so I would like to see this continue as it gives me ideas to add to my film wishlist. I have chosen for a member to pick a film each month as its obviously not as popular as is. _________________ handmade by Laura Croxson |

I quite enjoy films - especially at the moment, there are so many good ones around. Books and films are our main family activities. I would say I am more keen on seeing films at the cinema than on dvd, although we have a dvd rental package we only get 6 discs per month so I am quite choosy about what I put on the list.
I like hearing what others have been to see and what they did and did not enjoy. Laura really enjoyed Australia and although I was not persuaded to see it at the cinema, I will be putting it on my dvd list when it comes out because of hearing her views.
There is not enough interest to have a vote as we do for books each month. How about suggestions to a designated person who then picks one from the suggestions, puts it to the vote if the suggestions are overwhelming in number, or makes a personal choice if there are no suggestions? |

We don't receive more than 2 suggestions per month, if at all, so reckon I'll ask for suggestions as per normal, but if no suggestions are received (that includes those from members interested in discussing film), the BB mods/admin will then choose.
Does that sound fair?
Thanks for your support _________________ Reading: Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg

| That sounds good to me and is sort of a stop gap before ditching the monthly idea altogether. We generally see all sorts, but my personal choices are often a bit quirky and I like some of the Arthouse films too (though nothing too weird!) I tend not to make too many suggestions because they are not generally popular but if it helps to keep things going I will suggest and you feel free to ignore. |

I like arthouse stuff too. Interested in European cinema. Studied it years ago at uni, so I certainly don't mind you suggesting it. _________________ Reading: Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg

I certainly would love for this to keep going, but as Glynis mentioned nominations are pretty rare.
Karen suggested 'I've Loved You So' to me earlier on this month, so if everyone's happy with that including karen then that could be next months choice? Lisa x _________________ Currently Reading - Want to Play? By P.J Tracy (again)

Can't really add to this because I do like to watch films occasionally, I very rarely buy a DVD. I used to be with love film until they really annoyed me. We had a DVD that played for about 10 mins then stopped and wouldn't play or in fact do anything despite taking it out of the player and cleaning it. When we put it back in it was still at the same place so we sent it back as faulty, they sent us another and guess what .. Same DVD stuck in same place. Bye Bye Love Film.
But having said that I do like to read the comments on the film of the month so it would be good to see it continue in some form. |

Yes I'd really like to see it continue and it's lovely to have your feedback.
We don't have a video rental store for miles, so I considered joining LoveFilm, but didn't in the end. What a pain for you Gwen - fancy it happening twice _________________ Reading: Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg

I was wondering if it might be an idea to run a general thread for films people have been to see in a similar way to the threads we contribute for the books we are reading and books we have acquired?
I've seen quite a few films over the past couple of weeks - mainly at the cinema - it seems a bit over kill to start a new thread for each of them.
