The new Dr who will be announced on Saturday.
from the BBC "His replacement - the eleventh Doctor of the TV series - will be revealed in a Doctor Who Confidential programme on BBC One at 1735 on 3 January. "
I do hope it's not a female....I can't get my head round that!

I agree. It just won't be right. Some things are meant to be female and some male and the Dr has to be male. |

Well, what do we think of our new doctor? I must say I am quite pleased that he is young and not that well known although I know he'll have a hard time winning over DT fans. _________________ Currently reading - The Italian Boy - Murder and Grave Robbery in 1830s London - Sarah Wise |

| I think he will bring a new dimension to the part , I enjoyed watching him in his other TV roles...and refreshing to see a younger doctor.. |

I was disappointed I think he looks a bit too wet behind the ears to be the Doctor. I know both CE and DT are hard acts to follow but this boy doesn't do it for me. If the Doctor keeps getting younger with each new incarnation it means that the actor you will play the next Doctor is still in nursery school? I think William Hartnell was about 55 when he played the Doctor, Matt Smith is 26. Wish I could reverse time like that. |

aah but isn't the point of regeneration that the doctor totally changes - i was kind of hoping patterson joesph got the part as a black doctor would've been quite topical what with obama becoming president this year and all but hey ho....
we can only see what this new guy brings to the part- at least it wasn't catherine zeta jones as was hypothesised at one stage; i say if i can just about put up with martha bloody jones for a whole series then i can at least give this guy a chance- she nearly made me give up on dr.who so strong was my dislike of her! |

| I don't have too much of a view of him either way at the moment. I do agree with Treez though, I'm glad he is fairly unknown and was not one of the front runners being speculated about. I hope the media/public is kinder to him than they were to Daniel Craig when he became the new James Bond. |

I agree, Patterson Joesph would have been a good choice, maybe next time. Catherine Zeta Jones was in the running That would have finished the series in one episode. |

I don't know this guy, so I can't comment on him. I'm glad it's not a girl !!
A black Dr would have been fine, but I think they may have avoided that because of the Obama thing - it might have looked a bit contrived.
I thought Chris Eccleston was fantastic - and was very dubious about DT - turns out he was UTTERLY BRILLIANT!
