A Quick Hello

Hi there I've just popped along here to get a quick forum fix as the Risi forum is down AGAIN and I'm feeling at a bit of a loose end.

Its nice to see so many familiar faces here - Ohh and this style of forum (like the old Risi one) is so familiar its making me all nostalgic.

Hope everyones having a good day - I'm off to my book group this afternoon to make my excuses for not reading the last book they gave me to read which I tried and hated - probably not a bad book as it gets excellent reviews just SO not my style that I couldn't get away with it.

See you all around one forum or another.

I know I much prefer this style of forum to the new RISI one, especially when its down. This just seems so much simpler, there is too much on the new one. Oh well I suppose thats progresss.

Hello!

Hi Jan, nice to see you here. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here just as much.

Hi! Hope your book club meeting goes ok, there are always books we cannot stand, it's just that being in a book group makes you try them when otherwise you'd probably never go near them. It might be interesting to know what others thought though, you may not be the only one.

(I too have popped over here as RISI is down though I am ashamed to admit it!)

Welcome to BBooks!

I think with the new RISI forum it just takes a lot of getting used to as it is so different from most forums. Still I'm slowly getting used to it but everyone keeps posting and I can't keep up

Hi and welcome Jan. Hope to see you here regularly, irregardless of what's happening elsewhere!

Thanks for the welcome

The book I was supposed to read was "The Whaleboat house" by mark Mills - I battled with about 40 pages before giving up.

When I went today all the others had loved it and they made me feel a bit awkward by saying I should have read it regardless of whether it was to my taste or not.

When I've seen the next 2 books neither of them appeal to me either so I think I might look for an alternative group who read books I'd actually enjoy more.

I have so many lovely books I can't wait to read.

They don't sound a very understanding lot! Is it a long established group to which you are an outsider? Definitely sounds like tracking down another group might be a good idea if this one is reading books that you don't enjoy. Life's too short!
