Helpless in the Face of 3 for 2....Now, in my defence, I did try every charity shop in St Andrews when I went looking for a copy of The White Tiger today. Eventually I had to give in and go to Waterstones, intending of course to only buy that one book 
Somehow I ended up with 3 books 
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
The Little Friend by Donna Tartt
Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd
Now I ask you: Is it my fault if they go and slap a big yellow 3 for 2 sticker on the book I happen to want????
Since I was 'absent' during the poll for this months books  I'm putting the blame for this entirely on you BB peeps! Has anyone else caved in to this recently? Its the second time I've gone all 3 for 2-ish in the last fortnight

Every Charity shop in St Andrews, now that is a shopping trip because there are loads of book selling charity shops in St Andrews!
There are more shopping malls in the Bristol area than in the whole of America I think, but I have managed to keep out of Waterstones for at least the 6 weeks since we got here. I have caved in to bargain buys from The Book People and The Red House however so you are not totally alone.

Oh I never cave in. I am very restrained with my book buying and always finish one book before taking my time to make a considered purchase of my next read. I don't have an account on Amazon or a Waterstones loyalty card. I visit charity shops to try to buy my chosen book at the best price I can get.

Just to say I went for a walk with Emilie in the push-chair the other day when we were round the mother-in-laws and found a samaritans charity shop i had not seen before and was compelled to walk in and look as it is such a worthy cause. They had 6 paperbacks for £1 or 25p each, so of course had to find 6 I wanted, then 3 hardbacks for £1 or 50p each. Could only find one hardback I wanted.  Thankfully this was an Ed McBain omnibus containing 7 of his novels so in reality I got thirteen books for £1.50...how good a bargain is that???
better than 3 for 2 anyday of the week lol!

Hope you're enjoying doing all the children's books with Emilie. My youngest is nearly 8 so they've both grown out of picture books and it occurred to me the other day how much I'm missing them. Luckily a friend had a 2 year old so I do get the occassional fix!

Fantastic haul Sparkymarky!
Agree with you Sarah, it's terrible when your babies grow out of the picture books and you still want to buy them. It moves on though and you forget about picture books and lament that they no longer want to read Roald Dahl and so on. I'm just about hanging on to the teenage stuff, but only just!
