Starting or finishing?Do you prefer starting a new book or finishing one? I think I like the excitment of finishing a book, and knowing that I can ponder it as a whole, and of course teh finishing of one book means the excitement of choosing the next one too!!!

starting a new book because if it is good then invariably i don't want it to end and, with some of the thrillers i read, the ending is the most disappointing bit!

Starting I think. You always look forward to starting but feelings about finishing can vary. The last book I read I couldn't wait to finish because it was dull, but I don't want the one I am reading now to finish as it is really good.

Golly, this is a toughie. It think starting if it's a book I've been waiting for, anticipating and looking forward to. Once I've started a something and it's good it has to be finishing and then as Katey says reflecting on the whole thing as I decide what to read next. Actually I don't think I can really pick either one, I like anticipating and starting but also finishing and reflecting on too. I don't tend to stick with something if it isn't working for me unless it is a book set for a specific purpose so I don't tend to get the feeling Gwen does of wishing a book to end because it's boring or tedious.

Good question! Finishing for me as it sometimes takes me ages to get into a book, break it in so to speak. I love the feeling you get when you know you're hooked and can't wait for the next instalment, so finishing for me.

Starting most definitely as there's such a thrill when you embark on a new read - I am mostly sad when finishing a book whether I liked it or not, sad as in bloody annoyed if I persevered and it didn't get any better and sad as in missing it already if it's a book I've really enjoyed - book parting is really such sweet sorrow...
