A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers - Xiaolu Guo - I gave up on this one, I really dislike books that are written in dialect

Act of Will - Barbara Taylor Bradford  - I love her books and enjoyed this one years ago

At Risk - Patricia Cornwell - I used to really enjoy her books, but have really gone off her recent stuff and didnt bother reading this one

Hi Annecater

It looks like i've got some good reads to choose from, from your recommendations!!

I must admit i've felt the same about patricia cornwell's recent books but loved the early ones so much i keep sticking with her hoping they will get better

well let you know what i think of them all when i finally get round to reading them!!!!

The Time Traveller’s Wife - Audrey Niffenegger - enjoyed this
The Valley of the Horses - Jean Auel - as Clan of the Cave bear
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox - Maggie O’farrell - one of my all time favourites
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee - wonderful book
White Teeth - Zadie Smith - great book

I have quite a lot of your books on my tbr but here are the ones I have I read over the years.
Anna Karenina - Tolstoy good
Flowers in the Attic - Virginia Andrews  and Petals on the Wind - Virginia Andrews - Read this years and years ago,quite shocked at the time!
Lace - Shirley Conran Read this years ago as well
A is for Alibi - Sue Grafton - Didn't like this
Appassionata - Jilly Cooper - usual JC read
Affinity - Sarah Waters Not as good as her others
A Woman of Substance - Barbara Taylor Bradford another times past read
Chocolat - Joanne Harris really good as is the follow up.
Deception on his mind - Elizabeth George Good detective read
Falling Angels - Tracy Chevalier Not a good as Virgin Blue
Fingersmith - Sarah Waters Excellent book if you haven't seen the TV show and don't know what happens.

North & South - Elizabeth Gaskell Liked this
Polo - Jilly Cooper usual JC read
Portrait of a Killer - Patricia Cornwell not bad
Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier good read
Riders -  Jilly Cooper usual JC read but the best one I think
Rivals - Jilly Cooper usual JC read
Tess of the D’Ubervilles - Thomas Hardy good
The Borgia Bride - Jeanne Kalogridis didn't like this

The Gargoyle - Andrew Davidson very good
The Handmaiden’s Tale - Margaret Atwood very good
The Historian  - Elizabeth Kostova I liked this but most people didn't
The Island - Victoria Hislop good
The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold  OK
The Nightwatch - Sarah Waters  liked this
The Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett and this

Wicked - Gregory Maguire I wasn't sure about this but then liked and have read most of the seres.

War and Peace - Tolstoy read half of this then gave up.
