That's ok Anne I've heard mixed reviews about Labyrinth so your comment on that one encouraged me. I must admit I have tried reading a couple and then got distracted with other books ~ that includes owen meaney and the promise of happiness. I just feel guilty if I don't try at least once more!

I'm quite pleased with myself this month! I've read 4 on my TBR and only added one other this month! Am now reading my 5th.

I have now vowed not to buy any more until I make a significant dent in the others! I'm not sure how well I'll do though. I've been on to Amazon and Play and filled up my baskets and then cancelled the orders...some may say this is discipline ~ others may say I'm fooling myself!

After this I may read Madame Bovary as I'm meant to be reading a classic a month and haven't started my own challenge yet!

Sounds like you are making good progress with your TBR Daniela, better than me. I am reading 4-6 books a month but since Christmas I have bought at least 8! Although I had a bit of a clear out of books I'm unlikely to ever get to so that got rid of 3 I am determined to try again and trim off a few more.

And I must not buy any more books! Charity shops are my downfall!!

Excellent I look forward to having a 'buddy', Glynis!

I know what you mean about charity shops eightlegs. I went to Oxfam yesterday to drop off bags of stuff as had a huge clear out and then still found myself gazing at the books! But I did resist just about

Have now added another two to my TBR

On Thursday I bought Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory.

I also tried to go to Oxfam as it was near the car park but it was already closed. I was disappointed as my OH geve me permission and the money to treat myself to some books!! This absolutely never, ever happens
Oh well have stashed the money for the next time!

I don't know what's happened to me recently but I'm reading loads and loads of different things, including historical, fantasy and young adult fiction. There is just so much stuff out there. Anyway the long and short of it is I can;t stop buying books to go with all these new interests.

Today I bought
I Coriander by Sally Gardener (I've heard great things on here about it!)
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

They both sound so good. The only thing is I'm starting to get buried further and further beneath mount TBR!!!!!!!! Oh and I ordered another couple from play and bought Crime and Punishment at the weekend

I watched the film before I read the book. I must say I absolutely love the film! del Torro and Depp were a great casting choice and they were just hillarious! The film is very true to the book and the opening scene is a great representation of the book. I couldn't help but laugh as I was reading it...and I may have even kept an eye out for the odd bat!!! Is there a better character than the attorney out there?!

I agree, del Torro and Depp were fantastic. I don't think many actors could have pulled it off, but they did brilliantly.

"The Attorney" was a great character. There is a good article about the real Dr. Gonzo here....
Oscar Zeta Acosta

I don't think I could handle a night out with them these days!

I had no idea about the real Attorney until I read this article! What a mystery and it has sparked an interest in reading more about him. I've read a little about Tompson as a friend of mine is a huge fan of all things 'Gonzo'.

Thanks Chris for suggesting I read it

Dani - 37 is a lovely TBR size - mine is 545 at the moment!  It's utter madness, I think I need to get myself sectioned!

The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing - dark, weird, excellent!

Wicked by Gregory Maguire - gave up on this one

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini -
wonderful, loved it!
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimandanda Ngozi Adiche - gave up on this one, but more to do with the size of the font than anything else

A Quiet Belief in Angels by RJ Ellory - surprisingly I loved this

The Savage Garden by Mark Mills - on my TBR

The Dressmaker by Elizabeth Birkelund - just given up on this one today

Today I was very, very naughty and bought three books! I've been so good recently but was a bit annoyed today so treated myself to The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne and The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. Very pleased!

I have The Wasp Factory on TBR too, and isn't it on the 1001 list as well - double bonus. Perhaps I'll suggest it for June and we can try it together.
