I know I'm so late with reading your book choices.
I read this one and finished it this week, it is so far away from my usual read that I just didnt know what to expect.
I really really enjoyed it.
Although, not a fan of fantasy usually, the story of David in the woods kept it 'real' for me. I loved the take on the fairy tales and was engrossed in it.

I have been searching everywhere on the Internet for a list of discussion questions for The Book of Lost Things. My mom's book club is meeting next week and she has asked me to try to dig up a list for her. Can anyone help?

Hi! I had a look for you but there doesn't appear to be a Book of Lost Things reading guide with a set of discussion questions available on the net at the moment.
Maybe someone who read it here may have a copy with discussion questions in the back.
Hope one of us can help _________________ Reading: Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg

Well eventually finished it, only about a month after everyone else ! LOL! I gave it three stars
Spoiler:
I really enjoyed the book, I think adults can often forget how difficult it is to grow up, but working with young people everyday makes me appreciate how tough they find things. So I think the book was spot on about the challenges David faces on moving from childhood to adulthood. I also enjoyed the references to the fairy tales throughout - esp. Red Riding Hood and Snow White! and this re-enforced the significance of stories in children development.
The only thing I REALLY didn't like were the authors notes. I have to say I found them a bit self-indulgent. Esp. since they had an ad for his next novel and his web address. I think that sort of thing is best left on-line, then people can choose if they want extra info or not. I suppose I could have just ignored them, but kinda felt they were part of the book. I was interested in the origins of fairytales part, but I felt it was out of place and didn't belong at the end of the novel - again they could have been left on line for people that wanted to to read them.
Anyway, gave it three stars 'cos I thought it was good, but not brilliant.
Onto I Capture the Castle now!
