Here's the new list:

The Producers (I thought I'd hate it but was pleasantly surprised!) ****
Ghandi (Fantastic and moving ~ really makes you think) *****
Brokeback Mountain (I was a bit disappointed after all the hype) ***
Farenheit 9/11 (Scarey!) ****
The Sweet Smell of Success *** (some great lines like: "I'd hate to take a bite out of you, you're a cookie made of arsenic!")

Just updating, I had watched 4 when I last posted

Withnail and I - didn't like this at all
Brokeback Mountain - Liked the scenery better than the film.
Animal farm (2007 edition not the 1954 one, £1 in Tesco - bargain)- enjoyed this.

we watched the 1933 film The Invisible Man last week based on the book by H.G.Wells, sadly it is not on the film list but is on the book list- Great tho.

Most recent editions as follows (I wish I got through books this quick!):

The Producers (I thought I'd hate it but was pleasantly surprised!) ****
Ghandi (Fantastic and moving ~ really makes you think) *****
Brokeback Mountain (I was a bit disappointed after all the hype) ***
Farenheit 9/11 (Scarey!) ****
The Sweet Smell of Success (some great lines like: "I'd hate to take a bite out of you, you're a cookie made of arsenic!") ***
The Deer Hunter (mmmm Robert De Niro!) ****
The Red Shoes  (A real surprise, as I'd never heard of it!) ****
The Seven Samurai   (I can see why this is a classic) *****
Cineam Paradiso  (I cried! For me that's the mark of a good film) *****

Last night watched
6.Chungking Express, we'd had the DVD for about a week but put off watching it as it was subtitled...
It was quite cute, put me in mind of a Murakami book ?
Actually it was by the same director as In the Mood for Love which I have also watched earlier this year (Kar Wai Wong).

I was also flipping thru the 1,001 films book and am entirely convinced that I have watched 7.The Natural this year, as my OH bought it to watch for help w/ his American Studies nostalgia essay !

Total so far = 7

Film number 8.
Once upon a time in China
didn't think I'd watched this before, but seemed to remember quite a lot of various bits of it so guess I had ! [/b]

9. A Chinese Ghost Story
Seemed to take forever to get around to watching this.  Lovefilm seems to keep on sending out out the films that I'm not too bothered about watching, but I guess that's my fault for having them all Medium priority

10. Gaslight
I can't decide if I liked this!  The husband Gregory was so evil trying to convince Paula that she was going out of her mind!
It does get a bonus point for having a young Angela Lansbury as a bit of a good-time-gal - I love Murder, She Wrote !

11. The Sweet Smell of Success
This was recommended to my OH, so we watched it last night.
I thought it was okay but didn't really understand what a Press Agent was or why they'd be needed.  Was a bit distracted during the first five minutes by my puppy !

Enjoyed this, but I don't understand why he strung both of the women along ...
