I am afraid to say that I only gave this two stars.  I kept reading because I thought that the second half would be better than the first, and it was, but not much.  I didn't warm to any of the characters, and the physics / animal stuff didn't do anything for me either.

Obviously just not the book for me...

Struggling with this one at the moment. Don't know whether to give up or not. About a third of the way through. Found the beginning very tragic but I'm finding the story of the war a bit boring as we know he gets back.
What shall I do give up  or not ? Help!

Anne Marie, I really struggled with the first half too.  I did perservere though and I preferred the second half of the book - but it didnt leave any impression on me at all.  So, if you really hate it, just give up ....... so many books, so little time!

Thanks Anne, I think I will abandon it. If hasn't grabbed me by now I don't think it will improve much. Did like the start though & liked the character of Leo. However if TBR pile wasn't so huge I'd probably persist.

I wanted to really like this book but I'm afraid I wasn't blown away by it...it was an ok read and certainly not the best of the Richard and Judy choices this year.
