Got a free book from waterstones to review - Love and Summer William Trevor.

Just happen to be passing a book shop today and bought How to Win Friends and Influence People!  I have been influencing a lot of people in the last few days but don't think they want to be my best friends. I was only able to influence them because they wanted to see the back of me.

When to visit Tintern Abbey yesterday and Mr Blueflower bought me Finding Sanctuary, Monastic Steps for Everyday Life - Abbot Christopher Jamison.  Unusual book for me and I didn't see the TV series but may help my state of mind at the moment!

We are staying at a little place called Kilpeck near the Welsh Border roughly between Monmouth, Ross on Wye and Hereford.  We like looking around old buildings and churches etc so went to have a look around.  The Abby would have been quite an impressive building and still is.  Still working my way though the guide book about its history.  Lovely area as well. We do like this area and spent a week around here last year but stayed just above Hereford.

Did you live in Tintern village?

I know Kilpeck, I grew up in Monmouth and had friends at my secondary school from all over that area- From as far west as Caerleon, to the Forest of Dean.  I moved schools in Year 10 to Hereford, and also did my A levels there, so I know that area well too.  Very envious of your trip!

Tintern Abbey is beautiful, although every time I go it seems to be height of hayfever season!

What are the music theory books for Katey - are you playing, teaching, doing a course?

I had a really good day for books today - met Sarah and Gwen at the Bookbarn:

Sarah very kindly brought along The Handbag and Wellies Yoga Club by Lucy Edge, Ice Trap by Kitty Sewell and The Mathematics of Love by Emma Darwin plus a really lovely bookmark. Very thrilled with that little haul.

I bought from the Bookbarn Human Croquet by Kate Atkinson and The Little House by Philippa Greggory.

When I got home, the Postie had left a copy of Louis de Bernieres new one
Notwithstanding a freebie from Waterstones.

However Mr BF left with
James Michener Caribbean
James Michener Chesapeake
James Michener The Covenant
James Michener Centennial
James Michener Texas
Anne Applebaum Gulag A History
Ben Okri The Famished Road
Ellis Peters The Virgin In The Ice
Margaret Drabble The Millstone
Jean Plaidy The Plantagenet Prelude
Jean Plaidy Royal Road to Fotheringay

Really good to meet you today for the first time Karen and to meet Sarah again for first time since Howarth. Long journey but worth it, and I got to increase my tbr pile as well meeting Karen and Sarah.
We had a lovely ride though Wales and over the Severn bridge.  We had a slightly different route home through the center of Bristol   and through the welsh bit. Katey, Tintern Abbey looked really beautiful bathed in the late afternoon sun. Going to the Black mountains tomorrow before heading of back home on Saturday.
