I couldn't resist treating myself to a heap of books from The Works a couple of weeks ago. I bought a boxed leather bound copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Penguin for £7. They usually retail at £50 and remember when they first came out. I was totally unaware of the film adaptation so pleased about that. I bought a hardback copy of Foreskin's Lament for £3 which I remember being recommended by a member here. It looks like a great read. And Sea of Happiness by Amitar Ghosh.

I'm going to get a copy to give away on here so you could enter the comp for him! It's gorgeous - would make a fab gift.

I've never been to The Works as I didn't know there was one near me! I popped into The Works at Wimbledon and I got the leather bound copy of:

Brideshead Revisited (Penguin Classics Bill Amberg) ~ Evelyn Waugh
+
Diary of a Young Girl ~ Anne Frank
One Thing Lead to Another ~ Katy Regan
Anything Goes ~ John Barrowman

I'm also doing a mosaics course at the moment, so I ordered a couple of books for inspiration from Amazon:

The Complete Book of Mosaics ~ Emma Biggs & Tessa Hunkin
Modern Mosaics ~ Tess Hunkin

and finally a couple of books from RiSi:

Muffin Magic ~ Susannah Blake
Things I want my Daughters to Know ~ Elizabeth Noble
The House at Riverton ~ Kate Morton

I had a proof copy of this via Waterstones, I thought it was very good and really enjoyed it.

Where are you flying off to this time? I'm getting tempted by an e reader.  Waiting to see what the amazon uk version will be like. But I will still buy real books most of the time.

We are off to Spain again to visit Andy's Mom & Stepfather. Only for the week.
3 holidays this year! I don't know how we are managing it as my work hours have been cut right down.

I had a good look at the sony readers in Waterstones a few weeks ago and the young lady in there was so enthusiastic about her own (old style) sony reader I would have bought one there and then if I'd had the cash...lol
Are they planing on bringing Amazon Kindle into the UK? They are missing out by not doing it sooner I think.

Amazon keep making announcements but don't get on with.  I had a play with a Sony in Waterstones once and had to leave the shop pretty quick as my credit card was trying to jump out of my purse into the little machine on the counter.

One book today - Bloodline - Foina Mountain.

Never read any of hers before but ordered this and one called Isabella from amazon sellers.  I bought the Isabella one because it is about a family who lived on Belle Isle on Windermere and the island is named after Isabella.  She was also related to Fletcher Christen. ( A bit of local history I didn't know).

I'm getting more and more tempted too. I got the 100 classic books for my ds and although I have not read a whole book on it as yet, I have been very pleased with it. I think I'm happy to wait until there is more choice and perhaps a more economical price before I take the plunge though.
