Just finished Three Weeks to Say Goodbye by C J Box.  Didn't really like it as I am not a fan of American crime. Now have to read Love and Summer by William Trevor by 27th September, but I am enjoying it so far.

Me too! And the third in that set, Journey to the South. I have it somewhere if you'd like to borrow it Karen, but it's a set I think I'd like to keep. This one is about her travels to Morrocco/Algiers

Gwen, I've just noticed you have The Gates cover up - are you/have you read this one? I was just putting it on my list for a Halloween/Firework night book for one of the boys, thought it sounded good.

I meant to post that I was reading it now, but forgot.

I started it last night and laughed through most of the first chapter.

I didn't realise that is it 'a strange novel for strange young people'.   It has started with a lot of scientific facts in the story about the beginning of the universe and about the CERN experiment etc.  Its really good so far and I think it looks like a book my 11 year old Grandson will enjoy.
