Picked up Girl Friday by Jane Green from the library for some easy reading.  Am about 150 pages into 400, and it is OK-think it is what I needed.  Nothing taxing!

Started Swallowing Grandma - Kate Long and am loving it so far, I really enjoyed The Bad Mother's Handbook by her too, very astutue, witty observations of family relationships and characters.

(And one of my Book Barn purchases!)

I've read a couple of hers, Extra Virgin and Ripe for the Picking, both of which I enjoyed.

Me too! And the third in that set, Journey to the South. I have it somewhere if you'd like to borrow it Karen, but it's a set I think I'd like to keep. This one is about her travels to Morrocco/Algiers

I'd like that, one day Sarah, I have so many clamouring for the top of my tbr read at the moment though ......

Have just finished Legend of a Suicide by David Vann, I'm still reading The Picture of Dorian Gray and I want to get started on this months read The Little Stranger. I really need something guaranteed to be a bit easier though so I am going to read Knit One, Kill Two as a lighter read before I get to Little Stranger.

Finished The Gate.  Definitely a young persons book but had interesting footnotes, just to many of them which was a bit distracting.

Then picked up The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse - loved it and read it in two sittings or should I say two lying downs as I have had a 'bug' this weekend and spent most of it in bed.

Now reading Russia by Jonathan Dimbleby until I pick my next fiction book.

About 100 pages into Case Histories by Kate Atkinson, it's okay, but I'm not bowled over. Still reading The Picture of Dorian Gray which I am enjoying very much.

At the moment I'm ploughing my way through The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I've read nearly 900 pages now so not long to go and I've enjoyed it!   Have no idea what I'm going to read next. I may well go straight on to the sequel.

I'm reading In the Dark, by Mark Billingham , his first stand-alone book (not part of the DI Thorne series).  It's going okay, but one of the characters - a policeman with a girlfriend who is about to have their baby but it's not seeming quite the happy event it should be - seems a bit of a recycled version of Thorne's 'sidekick' Holland

Finished Case Histories not very impressed so other Kate Atkinson's I already have have slipped down my list and I won't be adding any more any time soon.  Also finished Doors Open by Ian Rankin - this was less than average too.
Going to read Death on the Downs, not thrilling plots, but great characters which is what I need after two lemons!

Have started Gone to Soliders by Marge Piercy in a bid to read some of my thicker books (851 pages) and free up storage space and also as it's a war theme to coincide with Poppy appeal time of year (not my idea, someone else's suggestion for Nov!)
