I did read London Fields by Martin Amis and also last month read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck which I think is on the list.

and started 7. City Primeval by Elmore Leonard ...
based on my current age(29) apparently need to read 17 of the 1,001 a year in order to complete the list 'before I die', so I guess I need to get my skates on !

I have almost finished The Summer Book by Tove Jannson-my secret santa gift from last year! A cosy read, beautiful descriptions of the island they are on and it is also fairly short!
