It was Eden.  Went with my Mum and Dad a few years ago, but it had coach after coach full of primary aged children on school trips - nightmare!

Is there a war museum in tin huts near Malton?

I'm sure you're thinking of where my brother got married and where they have the air show...Elvington, that's it. Or maybe you're not!!

No Glynis, Camp Eden is or was (don't know if still operates) a World War II site outside of Malton, but very close to it. The huts, and Gwen is probably right with tin huts, were all turned into exhibits.  I remember it all being big news around the late 80's.  Elvington is more on the outskirts of York if memory serves.

You're right, it's near York!

I just saw the new Brideshead and I quite liked it. I've never seen the old tv series so I didn't have any other adaptation to compare it to but I quite enjoyed it. It leapt about a bit too much for my liking at times and if I hadn't read the book I'm not sure I would have followed it all at one point. Perhaps I'll look out for the old one now.

I finally managed to watch the newest film version of Brideshead at the weekend.  I did enjoy it, but even though it was a 2 hour film the story still felt rushed - I came to it having neither watched the earlier tv series or read the book.  I managed to follow it all okay, but it was clear there was a lot more depth to the characters.  My husband watched it with me in the end and he enjoyed it too. Said he would quite like to watch the tv version so we will probably try to do that in a few months and then I can think about tracking down the book - I might even see if I can find an audio version if my husband is still interested.
