Finished this yesterday... would give it 3 out of 5, mainly because I managed to finish reading it but I didn't enjoy it.
I should have known from the start- the Isabel Allende quote on the front cover; I was unable to finish her book "The House of The Spirits"...
Amir was such a nothingness of a character, he really annoyed me. At parts I felt the narrative was on Fast-Forward; e.g. one minute Amir is studying in US college, the next he has received an advance for his second novel in a beautiful new house with his beautiful wife

even towards the end when he goes back to Afghanistan to get Sohrab from the orphanage, he's doing it with the intention of delivering him to some American couple (or was this before Amir found out Sohrab was his half-nephew?)
Surely there are better books about Afghanistan than this ?
