I always thought that Clare's dad and brother weren't actually out hunting but saw Henry as a trespasser and just shot him, especially as he was probably naked too. But perhaps it actually was a hunting accident and they never got to see who they shot? (because I don't think they saw Henry "dematerialize", if they did that would have been quite a scare for them) And then they met the other Henry (I think this one had the time to find some clothes, Clare didn't mention anything about his being naked) and the three of them searched through the area because they heard a shout or something and that's when Clare saw them. Perhaps that's why the father and brother were in such a somber mood too, because they feared an accident has happened.

This seems a bit far fetched but I much prefer it to the version where the author just forgot about the cut legs.

there being more than one Henry! I am throughly amazed. As I said the idea never even crossed my mind even if I did wonder for a while about the thing. I don't remember the Henry on the rock either though, I'm gonna have to look it up.

As for what Henry said, no, it didn't make me see the ending coming either. though I did have a hunch something that will prevent his running will happen to him as he underlined the importance of running for him more than once. However I was thinking more on the lines of something less serious than what actually happened

I only thought about it because you said he was standing in an earlier scene. There was no way he could stand with such an injury. What made me think it was that all 3 were looking at something - Henry or his bloodstain!!

So I looked it up, not expecting there to be anything about it, and found someone else wondering the same on that bookblog. There's no way I would've thought about it without you Kay. It would've remained on my shelves gathering dust!!

I guessed something must happen to his feet too. I was always worrying about his safety and knew sooner or later he'd get caught out. I didn't realise it'd be so severe either.

I think the other Henry at his death scene was Henry just before he timetravelled to the empty parking lot and ended up getting hypothermia - which led to him loosing his feet?

that is definitely right- pages 450-452 explain it very clearly and unambiguously.  Using words like 'thrashing, large and clumsy' relates to an older, footless Henry.  'A flash of white' being his nudity.  The 'and then nothing...' is when he goes back to the present.  The younger Henry is there and after a moment runs and is at the 'bloody spot' with Mark and Phillip.  I think the fact he is wearing all black as he watches is also relevant, very funereal.  The younger Henry is who Clare sees, and also explains how when he first meets her family they recognise him-he could well be of a similar age at both moments.
