Just to summarise our thoughts on Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar....

In a recent vote.....

4 people decided it was an inspirational read
2 people would have preferred carnal relations with a seal
(one of those would be me then....)
2 people didn't mind the book either way

In total,8 people registered their opinion.

out of a score of 5

4 people scored it 4/5
3 people gave it 3 stars
2 people scored it 2/5
and 2 people only gave it 1 star(one of those'll be me again i'm afraid!!)

In total 11 people voted in this poll.

So 50 % of people enjoyed it and found it inspirational
36% gave it 4 stars out of 5
and 27% gave it three stars out of a possible 5

In conclusion, the opinions on our first book choice were a bit of a mixed bag but Plath's novel certainly provided plenty of debate in our discussion posts.....

In the second of my monthly polls, the following results were revealed.....

7 people thought the book highly enjoyable and felt it raised many issues worthy of thought and discussion

1 person would have preferred to stick their head in the freezer untill their eyes got freezer burn suggesting that perhaps the novel wasn't to their taste

1 person couldn't have given a monkeys either way and thought the book was just "okay"

In total 9 members voted on how they felt about the novel and the issues it raised.

As a group.....

3 people gave the book 5 stars out of five
3 people rated it 4 stars out of five
and 1 person only gave it 3 stars

Out of 7 votes, the end result was 42% each giving never let me go both 4 and 5 stars out of five.
77% of people who voted thought the book a thoughtful and insightful read which gave them plenty to disscuss so overall i think you can safely conclude that the majority of us gave this book a resounding thumbs up!!
It certainly provided plenty of food for thought in the discussion posts.....now whats next?
