Helium is a review writing website like Ciao and Dooyoo but also focuses on discussions, advice etc. Unlike Ciao and Dooyoo, members can choose to write in Marketplace categories where topics are set by publishers e.g. in magazines with a word limit, guidelines and deadline. The publisher decides which one they want to use and pays the stated amount. Currently they're paying between $20 and $80 but seen some in their hundreds for only a few hundred words.

There are regular writing contests and a current Summer Reward-athon where hundreds of titles are added weekly and eligible for payouts. You need to read and rate around the site though as you're required to have 1 x writing star which you'll get when you have 90% of your reviews rated in the top 75% (e.g. if there's 3 other reviews yours has to be in the top 3/100 reviews and yours has to be 75th or above) and 3 x rating stars which you get from rating other reviews.

The contests are the best way of making money but you can still earn over the length of your membership from reviews posted in any category. e.g. I've earned 16 cents from a review posted in March (1 cent of that this month). Just search for what you want to write about, if it isn't there click on "Initiate a new article title" at the bottom, choose where its supposed to be listed and a steward will add it (can take a few days so get writing it then you can post when available).

The better the article = better pay. Payments are made by Paypal once you reach $25.
