Hi Everyone, Babbling Books is thrilled to be able to inform you that John Boyne has agreed to take part in a Q & A session with us. Some of you may recognise his name, as John wrote The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas.

As John is so busy he has said that if you post any questions for him by November the 5th, he will send me his answers by the following Monday at the latest.

Please make sure that any questions you want to ask him are therefore posted by that date. John will answer as many questions as he can, but due to his busy schedule he mightn't be able to answer all of them.

For more information about John Boyne, and his books to date please visit -

Fabulous news!  I have read The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Thief of Time (both of which I really enjoyed) and am on the look out for Crippen.  I will also sort out some questions.  Thank you again!

Blimey I don't know where the time has gone, it only seems like I was arranging this only last week.
Don't forget that your questions for John need to be posted on here by the 5th of November, so get your thinking caps on. Lisa x

Thank you John once again for taking the time out of your hectic schedule, and congratulations on having The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas adapted for the big screen.

My first question for you is this, how do you respond when critics say that the character of Bruno couldn't really have been that naive as to what was going on over in the camp?

I'm undecided as to wether he was just too young to comprehend the goings on over there, or that on some level he did know but didn't want to believe it because his father was so involved with it all.

Secondly how is your new novel progressing, and what if anything can you tell us about it?

Lisa x

Hello John, thanks for joining us here at Babbling Booiks

I have a couple of questions:

1. What do you think of the film adaptation of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas?  Personally, I thought it was stunning and very true to the book.

2. Where you as dismayed as I was when Ricky Gervais won the Galaxy Book Award instead of you?  Be honest!!!

Are there any authors who have influenced you as a writer?  Are there any book you have read that you wish you had written?

Have some more questions from other quarters for you John.

First up Sarah would like to know which one of your books to date did you enjoy writing the most, and why?

Carol would like to know what advice you'd give to budding authors, who want to make their debut stand out from the rapidly growing competition?

Hello John and thank you for taking the time out to come and talk to us. I am a huge fan of The Boy in Striped Pyjamas and think it is an incredibly moving book and have told anybody who will listen how fantastic it is.

One of the main discussions we had on another forum about The Boy in Striped Pyjamas was whether or not the book was actually plausible, partly due to the English/German translations of the words "Outwith" and "The Fury" and the fact that it doesn’t really work. What would you say to people who argued the book is implausible?
