Dunno if you know but someone on RISI has started a writers bit on there with challenges etc and as a place for members to express themselves-felt inspired by the first challenge especially after our brief attempt to craft a story together on here(which i may try to get back into this week as i have five days off from wednesday!!) wherby you had to write something using given words.
took me 90 mins but i came up with a little spooky short which i decided to post for perusal.
its not brilliant but was quite pleased i actually sat there and created my way through it as i am always stopping n starting with things-like the painting i used to do which i abandoned with two pics unfinished asyet.
anyway if you're on risi then have a look and tell me what you think....but be nice as is first real attempt at something like this....think i could have been inspired by something i read along a similar theme as a kid perhaps so may not be totally original -but the words and the stringing together was all my own work...hope you guys enjoy...

I will take a look at your story on RISI Sparky. It sounds like fun and I'll no doubt have a go myself.

What kind of painting Sparky? I've decided to take up watercolour painting again. We could spur one another on and maybe post our pics on here. Ooooh am I brave enough? You'll love it when the baby comes and he or she is ready to play with paints. It's such fun and it makes me want to paint for myself again, which is good.

used to dabble with watercolour pencils, pastels and watercolour paints-mostly surrealist odd paintings as i am a big fan of dali and magritte.....
writing that short story the other day has inspired me to write another and with 5 days off from wednesday am determined to get my unfinished paintings out(two of them) and at least finish one!!will keep you informed whether i actually fullfill my promise to myself but prepare to be disappointed lol |

| Just read your short story Sparky and thought it was excellent, especially the last little twist. Well done. |

I read your story too Sparky - it's great, well done. It's a great little forum. I might have a go at something on there. _________________ Reading: Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg

thanx you too-have got another one in ind for the shorter writing challenge which will write maybe later today-but rteluctant to post the results because don't want people to nick my ideas or plots etc if i do decide to make this an ongoing thing-something a bit spooky like the last one i think.i know that sounds a bit paranoid perhaps and a bit silly but Vick said perehaps in should be a bit more careful if i do decide to give writing a go-not for a single moment suggesting i might get published or anything but well depending on how well i get on could try my hand at something longer like GASP an acxtual book or something.
have had lots of ideas for aghes but never really sat down and put them on paper before-what do you reckon....? |

Mmm good point - someone could nick your idea, after all anyone not just members can read these forums so there is a chance. But the forum is also a good opportunity to practise your skills and you may get some constructive criticisms from readers which could help you decide to invest the time needed to write.
So I would keep your very best ideas to yourself but keep writing your short stories for the forum to sharpen your skills. |

I agree with what you and everyone's saying Sparky. Yes, anyone can view your ideas on these forums, so I'd keep the ideas you'd like to develop further to yourself. It would be better if the writing circle was a private forum or one where you all met up in person. Still, it's a great forum.
