Thought this might be a good way to tell at a glance how many of us loved this book and how many hated it for those who don't want to waive through the possibly heavy discussion posts.

thought i'd make it fun too.....

Just this min finished it and I have to say I enjoyed it. Wouldn't go so far as to say it inspired me but this is one book I don't have an intention of swapping.

I just completed it - and I must say I was surprised by how much I did enjoy it. I did not find it a 'depressing' read as I was told I would!!
My Mother had to study Plath's poetry at college and she hated it! (My mother is a writer)

Sorry - I forgot to reply to this!

My Mom (Olive Hyett) writes mostly short stories and articles for magazines. She's getting on a bit now so does not do much other than local history for the newspapers. She used to write the odd bodice ripper series for Womens magazines and at the other end of the scale childrens stories. Back in the 1970's you could 'dial a bedtime story' and Johnny Morris (remember him?) used to record & read my mothers stories to children listening on the phone. We did not even have a phone of our own at the time.....lol
More recently she has had 'books' available as story tapes.
And I keep finding this on the net
http://www.ebooks.com/SearchApp/SearchResults.net?term=olive+hyett
She has never given permission for this to be used and neither has Hilda Durman one of the other writers! It's more trouble than it's worth to do anything about it though!
Bet you wish you never asked.........I'm just feeling talkative tonight.....

I read this book many moons ago and I didn't really enjoy it or not, I read it to the end and put it to one side with full intentions to read it again to dig deeper under the surface. However, when I joined RISI I put it up for swap and it went straight away, so I probably need to read it again at some point.
